She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Church of Indianola, Ladies' Altar Society and an active member of the Sacred Heart Guild. Her family loses a good wife and mother, her friends a good neighbor, and her church a good member. The funeral was well attended by her many friends and relatives. All were disappointed in not being allowed a last look at her remains, but owing to a contagious disease in the family, it was advisable not to open the casket.

Obituary
Elizabeth Uerling, Daughter of Mathias Uerling and Elizabeth Ulmen, was born on December 16th, 1866, near Thiensville, Ocaukee, WI and was baptized in St. Catherine's church.
In June 1885 her parents moved to Blue Hill, NE and in September, the same year, came to the vicinity of Indianola.
She was married to Mathias Colling on September 11, 1889, at the Sacred Heart Church, Indianola, NE. They were blessed with ten children, four having preceded her in death: Josephine, George, Lila and Mathias.
Mrs. Colling died April 15, 1921 after a short illness. She had been in poor health since the death of her son, Matthias, who was slain on the battlefields of France during the war of 1918.
Her funeral took place at the Sacred Heart Church on Monday, April 18th. Internment was in the Catholic cemetery.
The funeral was well attended by her many friends and relatives. All were disappointed in not being allowed a last look at her remains, but owing to a contagious disease in the family, it was advisable not to open the casket.
She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart church, Ladies' Altar Society, and an active member of the Sacred Heart Guild. Her family loses a good wife and mother, her friends a good neighbor, and her church a good member.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and six children: Louis, of McCook, Mary, Carrie, Frances, Raymond and Edward, of Indianola; William and Nicholas, of Indianola; sister: Mrs. J. B. Colling, Mrs. P. J. Colling, Indianola; and Mrs. A. J. Diederich, of Geneva.
There will be a requiem high mass on Saturday, April 30th by the Ladies' Alter Society and on May 13th by the Sacred Heart Guild, as is a Catholic custom to offer prayers and sacrifice for their dead instead of giving flowers.
The beautiful floral offerings of loving friends are consoling and ease many a heartache of the living, but it is prayer alone that brings comfort to the souls of our faithful departed.
May she rest in peace.

Cards of Thanks

In appreciation of the many acts of kindness shown and the assistance so freely given during the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother and for the many beautiful floral offerings we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks.
